Educational Background
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Education. I am certified in elementary education with added endorsements in Reading and English as a Second Language. I have an additional 70+ hours in gifted and talented training, and have been trained in Project Based Learning. This school year is my eighth year at Rooster Springs Elementary.
About Me
Some of my interests include reading, visiting museums, attending plays and traveling. As a lifelong learner, I can usually be found reading or discussing some new and amazing discovery. I was thrilled to travel with my family in the northwest this summer, visiting Portland, Hood River, Cannon Beach, and the Columbia River Gorge.
Speaking of family, I am married with three children ranging from college grad to high schooler, two cats and one gigantic dog. I live in Belterra and love working in my community. It is an amazing adventure to have my sweet neighbors as part of my classroom family!
Educational Philosophy
I want to inspire students to become lifelong learners and give them the tools to help reach their goals. I encourage a safe, friendly community of learners in my classroom in an environment that promotes kindness and respect. This year I have challenged myself to take risks and engage my students in new, exciting ways!
Thanks for joining me in this exciting journey together. Peggy Young
